Robert Liljenwall has served as Editor, Co-Editor or contributing author of The Power of Marketing at Retail for all four editions. Robert is a graduate of San Jose State University with a BA in Journalism and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He has taught strategic marketing and brand management at UCLA Extension for 17 years and was awarded Distinguished Instructor of the Year in 2007. He also is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business at the University of Redlands. Liljenwall served as Director of Advertising and Promotion for Disneyland and Vice President-Marketing for the RMS Queen Mary and Spruce Goose. He has served as a leading marketing, branding, and strategic planning consultant for Fortune 500 companies and was President/CEO for Real Time Sports Network, one of the first nationwide interactive in-store broadcasting and kiosk firms. He is a writer, lecturer, and consultant on retail marketing and serves as a creative consultant for the attraction, entertainment and casino industries. He lives in Pasadena, CA.
Barbara Daugherty retired from Frito-Lay in 2008 after nearly 30 years of service. She joined Frito-Lay in 1980 as a Sales Manager Designate in Michigan and became the first female Zone Sales Leader for Frito-Lay, Inc. In her career with the company, she also held the positions of Key Account Manager, Division Trade Development Manager, Customer Marketing Manager, National Sales Marketing Manager, and other positions at Frito-Lay’s Corporate Headquarters. Prior to Frito-Lay, Barb was employed by General Foods as a Sales Manager and by Mercer County (Ohio) School for the Retarded as a Speech and Hearing Therapist. Throughout her career at Frito-Lay, Barb was active in several organizations, including over fifteen years in the Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) organization, and serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of POPAI in 2004. During her tenure, she spoke on the importance of Marketing at Retail throughout the world.
She is also active in the Network of Executive Women organization whose mission is to attract, develop and advance women in the consumer products and retail industry through education, leadership and business development. She served as the co-chair of the Dallas Region and is now on the Advisory Board for the local chapter.
Since retirement, Barb has become involved with her husband’s business, Ignite, the network marketing arm of Stream Energy, the fourth largest energy company in Texas. She holds degrees in Psychology and Education from Miami University (Ohio). She and her husband, Ajax, currently reside in Plano, Texas.
