Can international entrants participate in the 2014 OMA Awards Contest?
In short, yes! POPAI welcomes entrants from across the globe. If you would like to participate in the OMA contest and would like to request a letter of invitation to participate in the contest and join us at GlobalShop 2014 (March 18 – March 20, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV), please submit your request to Tammy Mulcahy at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that your request needs to arrive at least two weeks before your appointment, otherwise POPAI cannot guarantee you will get your letter in time.
Does my designated entry fee cover my entire participation in the 2014 OMA Awards Contest?
Not necessarily. There are additional entry fees for a number of add-ons you may need with your entry, for example, electric for your display is not covered, and costs an additional fee. How does judging work for the 2014 OMA Awards Contest?
The first phase of the judging process is completed online. Judges review case history responses and evaluate entry responses to questions focusing on design, engineering, shopper engagement, retail experience, brand performance and sales results.
The second phase of the judging process is completed on the OMA Show floor during GlobalShop. Judges are divided into teams with representation from all areas of the industry including brands, retailers, ad agencies, and producers/suppliers. These teams collectively evaluate the entries in each category, validating their online scores.

How is the Creative Best of Show Award judged?
OOMA winners will be judged against the special criteria established for “Creative Best of Show” and only ONE Creative Best of Show award will be awarded in each division. Judging for the Creative Best of Show Award will take place on site at GlobalShop after primary judging has been calculated. Judges will walk the show floor, view all OMA winners and select their top creative display in each division. Judging format consists of formal creative debate with all the judges against the criteria and objectives set in selecting the Creative Best of Show winners. Creative judges are also judges in the OMA contest.
How much does it cost to enter the 2014 OMA Awards Contest?

Is there any case for an exception to the production run quantities stipulated for this year’s contest?
PPOPAI will review, on a case-by-case basis, exemptions to the production run quantities. For consideration, contact Tammy Mulcahy at (312)863-2916 or email@example.com. Aisle Redesign Category does not have a minimum run requirement.
What are the award guidelines for the Creative Best of Show Award?
Entries competing for the Creative Best of Show Award will consist of Gold, Silver and Bronze winners from all categories. Non-OMA winners will NOT be considered. Judging will take place on-site after OMA primary results are tallied and calculated.

What can be entered into the POPAI OMA Awards Contest?
Any form of marketing at retail may be entered into POPA’s OMA Contest. Entries must have been produced with a minimum of production run of 100 units between November 1, 2012 and December 1, 2013.
What can’t be entered into the 2014 OMA Awards Contest?
Bronze, Silver or Gold award winner from any previous OMA contests. Entries cannot be entered in more than one category or by more than one company.
What is GlobalShop?

What is simply not covered by my entry fee?
Additionally to applicable add-ons for your entry, there are a few things the entrant is responsible for in entering the contest:
- Cost of freight handling on the show floor
- Warehousing freight at Freeman’s warehouse
- Drayage (moving freight from loading dock to the OMA area)
- Installation and dismantling of an entry

What is the Creative Best of Show Award?
POPAI’s Creative Best of Show Award is designed to celebrate the creativity of merchandising design and execution separately from sales results and statistics. The annual winner of the Creative Best of Show Award wins by engaging the creative community and exhibiting excellence based solely on ideation, imagination, and forward thinking.
What is the criteria for the Creative Best of Show Award?

What is the OMA Awards Celebration? Is it mandatory to attend?
POPAI’s OMA Awards Celebration is an event post-contest that honors the marketing at retail industry’s best and brightest, and includes a decadent cocktail reception, as well as the announcement of the OMA Award Winners. Attendance is not mandatory, but we find that most entrants in the contest love a good celebration after the good contest! It’s a great night of fun, good food and drink, and a great venue to network as industry professionals come together to recognize the most innovative and effective marketing at retail displays.

Who can enter the 2014 OMA Awards Contest?
Members of the marketing at retail industry are eligible to participate in the OMA Awards Contest. In order to receive member designation for entry fees, all POPAI Members 2013 membership dues must be paid by March 1, 2014 or non-member rates will be invoiced for all entries.
Who judges the 2014 OMA Awards Contest?
OMA judges are industry professionals comprised of POPAI brand marketers, retailers, ad agencies and producers/suppliers who are both POPAI members and non-members. These experts judge according to standardized and equitable rules in a two-tiered process.
To be considered for a judgeship in 2014, applicants must have 5 years of experience in the marketing at retail industry as a marketer, retailer or producer/supplier. Though our contest is worldwide, English is the official language used for OMA judging.
