In-Store Marketing’s Best of the West Revealed

Chicago, IL – Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) has announced the winners of the 2011 San Francisco POP Show. More than 225 entries from all over the West Coast were adjudicated in 23 industry categories during this year’s competition. Entries were judged on design, innovation, interactivity, and the proven ability to lift sales.

“The SF POP Show competition is always inspirational, showcasing the best in marketing at retail and point of purchase on the West Coast,” said Richard Winter, POPAI President. “It also affirms the great work being done across the country, despite tough times. The judges were impressed by the range and quality of the entries, making their decisions all the more difficult.”

Designed to showcase the “Best of the West”, the SF POP Show has become well known for showcasing the West Coast’s best point of purchase displays. Special awards were presented for Best of Show, Best Original Art, Best Photography and Best Structural Design.

THE WINNERS

  • Best of Show – Awarded to LAgraphico/Midnight Oil Creative for HOP Standee produced for Universal Studios.
  • Best Original Artwork – Awarded to LAgraphico/Midnight Oil Creative for HOP Standee produced for Universal Studios.
  • Best Original Photography – Awarded to The Graphic Source for Fall 2011 Storewide Graphics produced for North Face.
  • Best Structural Design – Awarded to LAgraphico/Midnight Oil Creative for Tron: Legacy Standee produced for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

A prestigious panel of judges comprised of producers, brand marketers and retailers identified winners in a range of categories. Retail displays were judged on quality, creativity, innovation and perceived ability to increase sales and make products enticing and memorable to shoppers.

The recipient of the Dick Scott Award for excellence in retail marketing was also announced during the 2011 SF POP Show. Andrew Rice, a 20-year veteran of the creative community and current Creative Director for Trinchero Family Estates, was presented with the 2011 Dick Scott Award – the SF POP Show’s highest honor.

The award is named after Dick Scott – a West Coast P.O.P. pioneer who was well known for his significant contributions to marketing at retail industry. The Dick Scott Award is presented individuals who have distinguished themselves in the marketing at retail industry, and is given in appreciation of their contribution to the better understanding of point-of-purchase advertising as an essential and valuable marketing medium.
